I really wouldn’t have a problem with “Celebrities” getting into the pet food business if they supported healthy pet food. Not only do people have to deal with watching pet food advertisement on TV which is so misleading, now the “Celebrities” on promoting food also.
I really hope people will do their homework when it comes to providing the best pet food, not just because you like Martha Stewart, Ellen DeGeneres or Rachael Ray’s and so on you know who they are. Actually out of these three Ellen’s is better. You should not buy pet food or pet treats because of what you see on TV or which celebrity is now promoting.
Just take a look for instants;
Purina One Chicken & Rice Dog Food contains…
- Poultry by-product meal – left-over pieces of chickens not used for human consumption such as intestines and chicken feet.
- Animal fat – determined by the FDA to be the pet food ingredient most likely to contain pentobarbital and thus euthanized animals.
- Menadione sodium bisulfite complex – synthetic Vitamin K linked scientifically to serious disease.
- Sodium selenite – non-organic selenium scientifically known to be toxic in large doses.
Purina also purchases ingredients from ‘world sources’, which could include China.
Also what really gets me is the puppy chow and the dog chow have the same ingredients, they are just in a different bag, but they will have people buying because they think they have to have one for the puppy and the other one when they grow up…give me a break.
Rachael Ray Nutrish Chicken and Veggies
- Chicken, when it just say ‘chicken’ it could be any kind
- Corn Meal, Soybean Meal, Animal Fat
- Corn Gluten Meal,
- Menadione Sodium Bisulfite Complex (Source of Vitamin K activity),
- Sodium Selenite, despite a lot of research that proves sodium selenite can be toxic to animals including our pets, a large majority of pet food manufacturers continue to use sodium selenite instead of the scientifically proven safer alternative selenium yeast.
The quality and freshness of ingredients, where the products are manufactured, how long they are stored before they are sold on the market makes a huge difference. All I am saying is read your pet’s food ingredient list; you might find a lot of ingredients you wouldn’t want to be in your pet’s food dish. You should buy your best pet food and pet treats based on the quality of ingredients not emotion.
To You and Your Pets Health,
Alice
