Pain Relief From Arthritis for Dog and Cats

Is your dog or cat suffering from painful arthritis in their joints? Your pet might be suffering and you may not even know it because animals naturally tend to hide their pain. This is their way they protect themselves from their predators.

Do you know if your do or cat is in pain or distress? Here are some clues to help understand your pets body language.

When a dog or cat is in pain it can affect your pets weight and their eating habits. Excess weight gain can increase the chance of them tearing ligaments and damaging their joints. Arthritis and muscle soreness may actually cause dog and cats to gain weight due to the lack of getting exercise because of their pain. Pain can also have the opposite affect and can cause them to lose weight because they loose their appetite’s.

The most common cause of pain in pets are osteoarthritis or joint disease. You may have noticed that your pet might be limping or he or she may be reluctant to go up or down stairs, exercise, or play. Weight and joint injuries can also go hand-in-hand so losing those unnecessary pounds will help overweight pets decrease pressure on sore joints and reduce pain.

If your dog or cat is suffering from Arthritis there is an all natural joint pain relief that you can try for free. Pet Bounce is a plant-based homeopathic blend and is designed to help alleviate the symptoms your pet may be experiencing safely and without side effects. (I am all for that.)

It comes in a oral formula which is good because it absorbs quiclky into the blood stream. Just a few drops and that’s it, with ingredients that homeopathic experts use to relieve joint pain, stiffness and swelling to help your pet get pain relief.

Natural Home Remedy For Lyme Disease

It is getting close to that time of year when those nasty little ticks like us and our pets. Of course depending where you live they can be around all year.

Ticks love tall grass so mow and edge the yard well to eliminate this perfect breeding ground. You should checked at least once a week for ticks, fleas, or skin irritations that could lead to serious problems. If a tick is discovered, don’t twist it out with thumb and forefinger or the head will break off and stay under the skin to do further damage. You want to make sure you don’t squeeze the tick also. To remove it, use a pair of tweezers as close to the skin as possible. There are some really great “tick removers” on the market.

The Tick Key (TickKey) Tick Remover – Your Key to Reliable, Safe & Effective Tick Removal Natural Home Remedy For Lyme Disease

In 2000, the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) released a report called Poisons on Pets: Health Hazards from Flea and Tick Products The report also demonstrated a link between chemicals commonly used in flea and tick products and serious health problems.

Over the counter products can cause more harm than good…for instant; Bio Spot is one of several over-the-counter spot on (meaning squeezed on to a particular spot) anti-flea-and-tick products that consumers apply to cats and dogs between the shoulder blades and sometimes at the base of the tail. Pets and Pesticides Please don’t do this to your pets.

Symptoms associated with Lyme disease include:

  1. High fever
  2. Swollen lymph nodes
  3. Lameness
  4. Loss of appetite
  5. Inflamed joints
  6. Lethargy

Please don’t use any over the counter products on your pets, there are so many natural remdies that work so much better without couse harm to your pets and your family.

Cat Care Information and Strategies

I know it seems that I always talk about dogs health and people’s health problems but I never write to much on cats. I guess that is because I don’t have cats and I really don’t know that much about them.

When I found the book on Dogs Health that I talked about yesterday I did notice that they also had The Complete Cat Health Care Guide, and I read all about it on their site. This useful owner’s manual covers all aspects of cat ownership in real detail. The book’s laid out pretty logically:

The first half of the book is dedicated to;

  • cat-care basics
  • choosing your cat,
  • things to avoid in a potential kitten/cat,
  • detailed breed information,
  • the homecoming,
  • playtime suggestions,
  • necessary and recommended supplies and toys, etc;

The second half of the book is where you should look for the nitty-gritty;

  • essential nutrition information,
  • welcome and unwelcome cat behavior explained,
  • how to deal with feline behavioral problems,
  • basic first aid,
  • common illnesses,
  • healthcare options,
  • and caring for the senior cat

Is Glucosamine In Your Dogs Diet

What exactly is glucosamine and why should it be in your dog’s diet? Glucosamine has been beneficial to joint health in humans.  Research has also shown that glucosamine in a dog’s diet can be beneficial to your pet’s health.

The numerous ingredients in dog food simply complicate things even further. Who really knows what all of those ingredients really mean?  You see glucosamine on some of the dog food labels. This supplement helps to maintain good joint cartilage. One of the key building blocks to produce joint lubricants, which helps to keep the joints moving and functioning with ease.  Glucosamine in your dog’s diet will ensure your pet’s joints work at their peak performance.

Glucosamine hydrates and lubricates your pet’s joints.  The added hydration and lubrication will help to prevent arthritis in your dog. If you find that your dog’s diet does not contain glucosamine, or you feel your pet could benefit from additional supplementation in the diet.

Your dog’s diet should include glucosamine to encourage joint health.  Your pet will not suffer from side effects or interactions with medications when glucosamine is part of your  dog’s diet. Herbal Medicine Treatment for Dry Itchy Skin On Dogs and Cats

The skin is the largest organ of the body on your dog or cat. Constant scratching and chronic paw licking could be and probably is connected to allergies. Here is a natural shampoo you can try for temporary relief.

You also need to find out what is causing your pets problem in the first place. It could be from food, fleas, environment from dust mite to pollens.

To help relieve your pets scratching try this natural shampoo and see if it helps.

Herbal Medicine Aloe Vera Pet Shampoo

About as pure a shampoo as you can get, this recipe is detergent-free; in addition, the healing properties of aloe vera gel helps to sooth skin irritations.

A Simple Solution:

2 cups water

2 teaspoons liquid castile soap

2 tablespoons aloe vera gel

Up to 1 teaspoon vegetable glycerin or vegetable oil

Combine all ingredients in a jar. Shake to blend. Get your pet’s coat wet, pour on the shampoo a little at a time, lathering as you go. Work the shampoo in with your hands. Rinse thoroughly and towel them dry.

Hope this gives your dog or cat some relief.

Purina Cat Chow Healthful Life Cat Food Good Or Bad

Okay I was sitting here watching TV and this commercial comes on about Purina Cat Chow Healthful Life Cat Food.

Many pet food companies are now claiming that their pet food is “all natural”, has “wholesome ingredients” and is “100% complete and balanced nutrition”.

So I got on my computer and looked up Purina Cat Chow Healthful Life Cat Food.

Take a look at what I saw when I read the ingredients;

Ingredients: You can read them for yourself here:

But make sure you read the rest of my blog.  :-)

Chicken by-product meal, corn gluten meal, ground yellow corn, soybean meal, ground wheat, animal fat. This is just the first 6 ingredients. Plus if you keep reading you will see that it has added color (Red 40, Yellow 6, Yellow 5, Blue 2), keep on reading you see menadione sodium bisulfite complex.

The pet food ingredient “animal fat” was determined by the FDA to be the most likely pet food ingredient to contain a diseased euthanized animal.

“Menadione sodium Bisulfite” is a synthetic Vitamin K linked to cancer and organ damage.

“By product meal” can be bits and pieces of animal carcass that are unfit for human consumption (chicken feet, cow intestines, and diseased animals) now does that seem “natural” to you, or healthy?

Why use color in pet food? Your dog or cat really doesn’t care what color their food or treats are, adding color is more for the “pet parent” just as the way pet food is advertised they make you feel like you are buying something great for your pet. But are You?

Here is what those colors can do;

  • Red #40 is linked to lymphomas,
  • Yellow #5 is linked to allergies, thyroid tumors, and lymphocytic lymphomas
  • Blue #2 is linked to brain tumors

Now do you really want to give your pet food with color?

Don’t buy your pet food because of a pretty bag or because it says “all natural”, has “wholesome ingredients” and is “100% complete and balanced nutrition” learn how to read the label and know what you are buying for your precious pet.

Symptoms Of Gastritis In Your Cats Digestive System

Gastritis or inflammation of the stomach is produced by overfeeding and too frequent feeding, or feeding with irritating food, by the ingestion of foreign bodies or poison in the stomach. Constipation and Diarrhea are diseases of the cats digestive system. (which I will talk about tomorrow)

The symptoms of gastritis are vomiting, first of the contents of the stomach, then of a thick, frothy mucus, and later, perhaps, of blood. The animal shows pain upon pressure on the stomach just at the lower border of the last ribs, which is more or less severe according to the intensity of the inflammation.

If the cat is outside and is able to get at fresh grass, it will itself eat a sufficient quantity to act as a medicine that induces nausea and vomiting, which affords temporary relief. In the house-cat this can be replaced by a cup of tea which is an old remedy used for upset stomachs in people. Brew up a strong cup of tea and allow it to cool and give your cat 1 tablespoon three times a day.

Vomiting is a common problem for cats If your cat is profusely (i.e. every few hours) vomiting then they are probably becoming dehydrated and in need of veterinary care. If your cat is still drinking water and occasionally vomiting then you could try the home remedy.

This information is intended as an informational guide only. This is not to be substituted for professional veterinarian care. Always ask your Veterinarian for advice and have them explain why they have chosen that treatment and what the side affects are.

Want To Make A Difference In Your Pets Life

DID YOU KNOW… The maximum life span of our dogs and cats is estimated to be about 25 to 30 years and yet the average pet lives only 13 to 14 years?

The problem with contaminated pet food still continues we just don’t hear about it in the news for some reason until it is too late for some pets. (money)

We are losing our pets due to tainted or harmful pet food ingredients

Massive recalls for well known brands of dog and cat foods.

March 2007, our nation experienced the single largest recall of pet food

More than 100 brands of pet foods were pulled off the shelves due to tainted ingredients.
Americans are constantly being misled by clever marketing tactics regarding which food is best for their pet. The unsuitable and harmful ingredients that are used, how long it is stored before it is ever placed on shelves for sale.

It’s time to stop trusting the your pet to anyone who makes a pet food.

Warm Car Engines Can Be Hazardous To Cats

With colder weather coming it is time to think about cats, kittens and other little critters that are outside in bad weather.

Outdoor or stray cats seeking warmth and shelter often make the fatal mistake of climbing up near a car’s engine to sleep. Prior to starting your car, be sure to bang on the hood of your car or beep the horn to roust any cat and other critters that may be inside.

Just a little tip that may help save a life.

Woman takes in 700 stray cats, the California woman said “Ever since I was a small child, I asked my mom for a kitten and she wouldn’t let me have one, and now she’s sorry’. KNTV’s Laurence Scott reports.

This woman is remarkable and truly a one of a kind person to take in some many animals. She gets a big thumbs up from me. :-)

Lynea runs a No Kill Animal Sanctuary and Adoption center for cats and dogs.

Watch this video and you will be surprise to see how this many cats can live together. Of course she moved out but still keeps the house spotless.
