VeggieDent Dog Chews are Making Pets Sick

Australia is in the news again with the VeggieDent Dog Chews that are making their pets sick. These chew made by Virbac Animal Health has been taken off the market there because there were reports of kidney problems for those dogs that ate them causing excessive drinking and urination.

These chews are suppose to promote dental heath; the ingredients are corn, starch, glycerin, soy, rice, yeast, sorbitol, corn derivatives and water. They are also similar to the chicken jerky snacks made in China that made many pet sick a few years ago.

The ingredients originates from Vietnam and they are also are manufactured by Virbac in Vietnam. The problem could because the product is irradiated as required by the Australia Quarantine and Inspection Service. (The Australian government last week banned irradiation of cat food because evidence showed that the sterilization process was blame for neurological problems, that seen in some cats that ate Orijen brand irradiated dry food made by Champion Pet Foods Ltd.)
